Trail Report for December 14, 2005

Notes and changes since last report:

The Trails

Views

  • The Old Hayfield was unvisited after the recent snows.
  • Just a few deer trails were evident.
  • I didn't notice at the time, but there was a sun dog: that bright spot in the sky above and to the right of Gifford House.
  • The blending of the steps and the tree shadows was interesting.
  • And how they bent around the edge of the snow, too.
  • By the Old Oak amongst a group of white-throated sparrows was a fox sparrow!
  • There was quite a bit of bird activity in the junipers in the Old Pasture as well.
  • My favorite view of the Wappinger Creek was splendid.
  • A mallard erupted from the little brook that feeds into the Creek.
  • The bottom of the Old Gravel Pit looked slushy, but was frozen solid.
  • And Gifford House looked a long way away over all that snow.
