The Trails

Views

  • 70° was a treat today.
  • The peculiar twinleaf was blooming in the Fern Glen. It's exploding seed pod is in the background.
  • A trio of mallards was enjoying the sun along the Wappinger Creek Trail.
  • Just a little farther along, both toothwort and cut-leafed toothwort were growing side by side.
  • Spicebush is a favorite of mine for the lemony scented blossoms, and for the fragrant leaves, also enjoyed by the caterpillar of that big, black swallowtail butterfly who bears the same name.
  • More and more dog violets were blooming all along the way.
  • But my batteries were only good for just so far...
