The Trails

Views

  • In my annual photographic persuit of the Sedge Meadow's hooded warbler I snapped a fair shot of the prairy warbler.
  • A dark smudge crossed the Wappinger Creek trail.
  • Springtails! I estimate there about 5000 in this photo - one leaf; and they're not that thick here...
  • Mossy tree roots pocketed a clump of gaywings along the Cary Pines trail.
  • A great meeting of the watersnakes was taking place in the Fern Glen; I count four - and all facing the same way.
  • Oops, one more; perhaps the ssspeaker...
  • The fertile fronds of the cinnamon fern give it its name.
  • Wood phlox were blooming all around the Cobble.
  • White trillium become painted as they age.
  • A favorite, the yellow lady's-slipper, was blooming in several places in the 'Glen'.
  • As I was taking this photo of Soloman's seal, a hummingbird visited for nectar, but on the wrong side...
